Caprine Classics is a small herd of ADGA registered show stock, mostly Saanens, in western Michigan.  We strive to breed for quality animals who are genetically healthy and hardy, structurally correct, and who are excellent milkers who produce well and milk out easily.

We use local shows and annual linear appraisal to help us keep sight of our goals.  We also hope to begin DHIR testing in 2010.  We plan to have hand-made goats milk soap available for purchase starting in January, 2010.

We hand-raise our kids on a very strict CAE preventative program.  We also test annually for CAE, TB, and Brucellosis.  The herd is also abscess-free.

Our Story:

Caprine Classics started out in 2004 like most herds, with the purchase of a pair of registered does as pets.  From those first goats, a Saanen yearling and Nubian kid, my love for these animals grew.  After breeding Alpines, Saanens, Nubians, Recorded Grades, Nigerian Dwarfs, and Pygmies for around 5 years, I decided to go back to my first love of Saanens and Nubians.  My other breeds were dispersed, and I am now working to develop a competitive herd in Saanens, and will begin breeding Nubians more seriously in a few years.

Finally, I would like to thank all of the family, friends, and goat breeders who have helped me along so much.  It would take a book for all of the names, and I’m sure I would forget to mention someone, but you know who you are.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
